I was raised in Atlanta, GA and earned my B.A. in English and Psychology from Vanderbilt University. After spending 21 years in sales and marketing, I started teaching at SLA in 2005. It has been a joy to watch the school thrive! I am certified in Middle Grades Integrated Curriculum, Math 6-12, Gifted, ESE, Reading, and ESOL. Over the years, I have taught all academic subjects, often 4 at a time. I am thrilled to be able to focus on 8th Grade English/Language Arts and 7th Grade Advanced Civics this year.
I fully support the mission of SLA - scholarship, leadership, and service. It is my goal for students to leave SLA with a lifelong love of learning and serving others!
My husband Dave is the SRO at Garden Elementary. We are empty nesters; our son Ashton is a mechanical engineer for Lockheed Martin and lives in Richmond, KY. Our son Nathan, daughter-in-law Sarah, and granddaughters Sadie (12), Aubrie (10), and Josie (5) live in Canton, GA.
In my spare time I enjoy visiting my children and grandchildren, travelling, reading, crafting, walking, and swimming.
